Why my music is no longer on conventional streaming services...

A letter with love from me, to you...
Dearest reader,

I hope this letter finds you well - with a belly full of tea and ears full of music.

You may have noticed that you can't find my music on any of the major streaming services. If you've got a few moments to spare, I'd love to share with you exactly why this is.

Here we we go.

In a world of endless skips and single-track playlists, I believe music has started to feel more like background noise than the meaningful, immersive experience it’s meant to be. Streaming services have their perks, but let’s be honest: they aren’t fair to artists, and they’ve taken a lot of the magic out of discovering and listening to music.

That’s why I decided to make a change in the way I share my music with the world.

From now on, you’ll find my music on Bandcamp - a platform that values independent artists and makes it easier for me to connect directly with you.

It’s more personal, it’s more fair, and it feels right.

But this isn’t just about fairness. It’s about bringing back the joy of discovering music....

Here's my thinking...

I see Bandcamp as a space that values music as something meaningful, where I can share my songs the way they’re meant to be heard, and where every listener feels part of the journey. By supporting my work there, you’re helping to bring back the magic of music and making it sustainable for artists like me.

Not only that, but they've also got an app now - so streaming and downloading music is even easier than it was on there before! You can sign up for a fan account here and it's free!

It's also great news if you're a Tea Break Club member, because there are secret streams and community aspects I can share with you that no-one else can see! More on that story later...

That said, if major streaming services find ways to create real connections between artists and listeners - or if they change their fairness for creators - I’d happily reconsider. But for now, this feels like the right way forward.

The first album I ever made was released on Bandcamp. It was an incredible experience because it allowed me to connect with the people who were listening to my music. I could see who was supporting my work, share stories directly with them, and feel like we were building a story together.

As streaming services grew, I thought taking the plunge was the right thing to do. It offered incredible reach and made music more accessible than ever before. But along the way, I lost that connection with people like you.

This is all a bit old-school, I know, but there’s something magical about committing to an album - letting it tell you a story from start to finish. It reminds me of those teenage moments when I’d sit down with a new album, lyric sheet in hand, letting every track take me somewhere new.

I want to bring that back for you - let's do it together.

If you’re ready to join me, head to my Bandcamp page. By supporting my music there, you’re not just buying songs - you’re part of a movement to make music meaningful again. Together, we can keep the magic alive and bring back the excitement of discovering music that moves you.

Thank you for coming on this journey with me. Let’s make something special.

P.S. Because you’ve made it this far into the explanation (gold star for you!), here’s a little thank-you: use the discount code “kettleon” at checkout to get 75% off my entire back catalogue.

At the moment, not only is it half the cost of a standard monthly subscription with a streaming service, but it’s also about the price of buying me a cuppa. By doing this, you’re directly supporting the work of independent artists like myself and making sure more music gets made.

Cheers to that! 🎶☕
